Teething
Newborns usually have no visible teeth. Most children start developing baby teeth between 4-7 months of age. However, it is normal for teething to start at any time between 3 and 12 months of age. Children usually have their full set of 20 primary teeth in place by age 3.
As their teeth come in, or “erupt”, some babies may become irritable, have problems sleeping, or lose their appetite. Your child may have sore or tender gums when teeth begin to erupt. Gently rubbing their gums with a clean finger, cold teething ring, or a moist gauze pad can be soothing. Letting teething babies chew on safe objects will prevent them from chewing on dangerous things. Symptoms usually begin about three to five days before the tooth comes in and, once the tooth breaks the skin, teething symptoms usually disappear.
